Jimmy Choo Launch Shades for Summer

Just when you thought sunglasses couldn't get any bigger or any more over-the-top, leave it to Jimmy Choo to come out with a glam version with almost goggle-like proportions.

It's no wonder that these face obscuring glasses are being worn by Jennifer Lopez - they're perfect for remaining incognito (if that's even possible anymore for someone like J. Lo).

The new sunglasses - the "Boo" - are a part of the latest addition to the Jimmy Choo accessories empire, a full sunglass and eyewear collection created with Safilo Group (who also just produced frames for Balenciaga) that launched this March.

Inspired by oversize frames from the '70s and '80s like Linda Farrow, they're perfectly in keeping with the Jimmy Choo vibe of fame and fabulousness, being one of Hollywood's favorite labels for completing a red carpet look. Other fans include Jessica Alba and Kerry Washington.

Best-seller the "Rock" - Sharon Stone wears them - comes embellished with a huge Swarovski crystal on the side of the frame, in black, topaz or rosy pink. Retailing at $430, it's the most expensive pair in the collection.

All pairs come in a slick metallic case that doubles as a clutch bag. So really, it's like getting two accessories for the price of on
Think of Adidas by Way of Porsche

Think of Adidas by Way of Porsche

At least twice a year, a fashion reporter will write an article about "The New Modesty," declaring that clothes are finally returning to well-constructed tailoring of subtlety and restraint.

Then, in the same publication, you will see a fashion spread of an impossibly chiseled man in a python codpiece straddling a Russian supermodel wearing a bikini made of pink dental floss, and you wonder what that writer was on; and if humanity will ever be sophisticated again.

Well, dear reader, I may be about to make the same mistake because - guess what? The New Modesty is finally here! At least it seems as if it is - in the window of the new, sharply cool Y-3 store in the West Village.

Behind its glass-paneled garage door, a faceless male and female mannequin are displayed.

The male form is in a baseball cap, sensible-fitting jacket and knee-length shorts that have retro baseball uniform pinstripes.

The female wears a capped-sleeve blouse, a long skirt with floppy pockets and a wide-brimmed gardening hat.

At a glance, you could mistake them for a humble Amish couple in the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside, or an international D.J. team boarding a plane to do a gig in Reykjavik, or both at the same time.

NuMetrex and Lululemon Athletica Premier New Heartbeat Running Tank Top

NuMetrex tank

NuMetrex, a Textronics, Inc. brand, and lululemon athletica have teamed up to create a technically advanced running tank top that monitors heart rate.

Made of quick drying nylon/Lycra fabric, the Heartbeat Tank contains patented fabric sensors in the inner shelf bra giving the wearer direct feedback that includes the time spent exercising, calories burned, and heart rate performance. A small pocket for a compatible snap-in transmitter is also in the shelf bra relaying the information to a compatible watch or cardio machine.

"This seamless garment is constructed for the athlete who is looking to monitor their heart rate without the traditional strap," says Deanne Schweitzer, lululemon athletica Product Manager, "The tank top offers moderate bust support, wicking knit construction for moisture management and a smooth next-to-skin-fit that helps to prevent chafing making a more comfortable exercise experience."

A high performance garment, the Heartbeat Tank maintains a feminine shape thanks to a mesh pattern designed from the lululemon athletica logo. Available in 3 colors (peacock blue, anise and black), the tank retails for $74.00 USD in lululemon athletica stores. Watches are also available for purchase.

The NuMetrex line of clothes that monitor the body provides a comfortable alternative to the cumbersome heart monitoring chest straps that tend to chafe, slip and loosen during workouts. NuMetrex garments -- including the Heart Sensing Sports Bra, Cardio Shirt for Men, and Racer Tank -- offer seamless comfort combined with superior monitoring performance. They sense heart rate through stretchy fabric electrodes that are knit directly into the fabric, and send that data to a compatible wrist watch or cardio machine via a tiny transmitter that is snapped into a pocket in the garment. Launched by Textronics Inc. in December 2005, the NuMetrex Heart Sensing Sports Bra was named 2006 Sports Product of the Year by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association.

lululemon athletica is a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company that creates components for people to live longer, healthier and more fun lives. By producing products that keep people active and stress free, lululemon believes that the world will be a better place. Setting the bar in technical fabrics and functional designs, lululemon works with yogis and athletes in local communities for continuous research and product feedback.

Sandals with Socks a Fashion Trend of the Young Hip

Sandals with Socks: a Fashion Trend of the Young Hip

Ever since our middle-school science teacher wore Birkenstocks with sport socks, we've considered the sandals-and-socks combination to be one of fashion's biggest sins.

But after watching Anna Sui, John Galliano and Rei Kawakubo send models down their catwalks wearing anklets with open heels, our position began to wobble.

Then Hermès and Givenchy picked up on Balenciaga's fall tights-and-sandals concept.

And a bevy of stylish celebrities -- including Julianne Moore and Jessica Alba -- started turning up on red carpets in open heels with opaque tights ...

and, then, well, we had to admit: It looked pretty good.

And that's where things got sticky.
